When Time Gets Away from You

Have you ever looked up and realized it’s already Friday… but your Monday to-do list is still sitting untouched on the kitchen counter? Yeah—me too.
Some weeks, it feels like time is this wild colt I just can’t seem to rein in. One moment I’m folding laundry, answering emails, feeding calves, and prepping dinner… and the next, I’m realizing I forgot to return that text, missed a school form deadline, and haven’t sat down with my kids to really be with them in days.
Life as a ranch wife, mom, business owner, homeschool helper, club volunteer, and “resident everything-doer” is full. Full of beautiful moments and meaningful work—but also full of demands and deadlines. And sometimes, when you’re being pulled in a dozen directions, something just has to give.
Sometimes it’s a missed appointment.Sometimes it’s a burnt dinner.Sometimes (if I’m being honest) it’s my patience.
And I’ve learned… that’s okay.
We moms—especially us “ag moms”—we wear a lot of hats. Some days we juggle them like pros, and some days they all fall to the ground. But we keep showing up. We keep loving our families. We keep doing the best we can.
If you're feeling stretched too thin right now, I want you to know you're not alone. It's not just you. You’re not failing—you’re just human. A strong, tired, incredible human doing a million things that matter.
So take a breath. Step outside if you can. Watch the sunset over the pasture. Let the chickens peck and the kids giggle and the laundry wait. Give yourself grace.
Time may get away from us sometimes… but what matters most? That we don’t lose ourselves in the hustle.
Stay strong, Mama. You’re doing better than you think.
